A lot of celebrations have been made, and they still are, because of the IV Centenary of the first edition of D. Quixote of La Mancha, written by Miguel de Cervantes. Sara Baras and Peter Müller contribute their particular and outstanding homage to the legendary Quixote and to Cervantes, one of the biggest writers of all the times, transforming many of his dreams in beautiful, suggestive and imaginative photos. These are from a beautiful book and we offer them individually, creating an outstanding exhibition where the myth of D. Quixote takes life and also moves and dances. |

POIPET: A BRIDGE BETWEEN TWO WORLDS Human beeings´ trade, prostitution and AIDS in Cambodia
Nicolás Lainez prefers the research illustrated feature and article to the news. He is very committed himself to collaborate with humanitarian organizations. His works have been exhibitted in Europe and Asia. This exhibition of documentary photography is made up of 35 photos that show the problematic social background of Poipet (Cambodia), in the frontier with Thailand, where a 70.000 shanties' slum lives together with 7 luxurious casinos, and where traffickers of human beigns and procurers do their business with total impunity, which leads to another poblem: having the highest levels of AIDS in Cambodia. |

AMANCIO PRADA
Amancio Prada's voice, lightly burned of mystic in the crest, recite music, makes flow with melody in a syllabic and crystalline way. This young man from the Bierzo, of clear face, son of farmers, premiered the aesthetic modernity in Paris sorrounded by the May mithology, from where he came back to a land with cowboy tacks, of a softly rebeldy possessed by spirituality. Since then, he is searching with severity to take out the soul to the cult and popular memory's sound. Amancio Prada sings, there are birds flying still medieval and public that packs the recital siping grape juice from Granada after every song. |

ANTONIO MÁRQUEZ, COMPAÑÍA ESPAÑOLA
He was lead dancer of the Spanish National Ballet. Since May 1995 he has had his own company which is called "Compañia Antonio Marquez". They have danced on the best stages both in Spain and abroad, from the Royal Theatre of Madrid, to the Paris Opera.” With his exuberant, charismatic style, Marquez is more than his company's figurehead. He is a passionate, generous, wizard of a dancer, and he has surrounded himself with a company of stunningly beautiful, fabulously costumed dancers, all of soloist stature.” |

BALLET CARMEN CANTERO
It was created in 1997 with the aim of preserving, divulge and respect the different spanish dance heritage. They have managed to turn the “Spanish dance” into a uniqueness with the aid of a few touches on every single style. They enjoy us with the folklore, making us take pleasure in the “Escuela Bolera” elegance and technique, and expressing by the move of their arms and castanets all the “Spanish dance” beauty. Transmitting, therefore, our inner feelings and racial expressions through the Flamenco dance. |

CARMEN LINARES
Her voice, full of nuances and musicality, her so personal and versatile style, have allowed her to show the endless possibilities of Flamenco. Her continuous search for new ways of expression has become an enriched art that combines the Cante Jondo (traditional style of Flamenco singing) with chamber music ensembles or symphony orchestras. She has been one of the first flamenco artists who, invited by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, performed in the Lincoln Center. The New York Times has described her as “singer with an extraordinary expressive power”. |

ENRIQUE MORENTE
One of the great revolutionaries of flamenco, without him it would be impossible to understand the present and the future of this art. He is the interpreter more devoted to the updating of "cante", but without leaving apart its classical features, and the first and the best without any doubt to adapt to "flamenco" the verses of Spanish poets. Enrique Morente works in the endeavour of revitalizing the "cante" and adapting it to the new time.

ESPERANZA FERNÁNDEZ
One of the best voices of today Flamenco. She has inherited the Flamenco from her family, full of important flamenco singers,dancers and guitarists. Blessed with an exceptional singing faculty, her delicate and precious voice allow her to perform different and varied styles. Despite being so young it is surprising her profound knowledge on traditional flamenco. Her amazing,full of nuances voice and her elegance allow her to go into both the most traditional flamenco and the musical fusion or even classical music. |

ESQUIVEL DANCE COMPANY
From 1995, Esquivel has consolidated itself and become the first stable Historic Spanish Dance company. Its performance “Corral del Príncipe” shows a spectacular and funny portrait of the XVIII court and theater environment in Madrid. The combination of a pure spanish court and of a funny and colourful theater, is ideal to bring down the topics about the spanish sobriety in the Enlightenment. The acrobatics of the male dances, the sensuality of the ladies, the castanets, fans and wigs… all these things and more are part of the Spanish Popular Songs and Dance. |

He started to play the guitar at the tender age of 5. He has accompanied many flamenco stars singers. Very soon he started his international tours in Japan, Canada, Singapore, Jordan, Italy etc. In May 2004 it was released his debut album, “Jerónimo”, one of the most eagerly awaited ones in Flamenco world, in which apart from composing the pieces, he also carries out its production. |

JOAQUIN GRILO
At the age of 13 he carried out his first international tour. He has collaborated and shared the stage with the great flamenco stars. JOSÉ MENESE
He has sung on the best stages, from the Royal Theatre of Madrid to Paris L'Olympia. In 2004 he presented in La Maestranza Theatre of Seville, in the Flamenco Biennial, his show “A mis soledades voy, de mis soledades vengo”, one of the best performances of the event, according to the critics. Verses written by big poets of spanish Golden Age make up this show of so big success. This great flamenco singer is accompanied by the guitarists Enrique Melchor & Eduardo Rebollar, flamenco singer Laura Vital, flamenco dancer Carmen Ledesma and a chamber orchestra conducted by maestro Joan Albert Amargós. |

MARÍA CARRASCO FLAMENCO DANCE COMPANY
She took her first steps in flamenco when she was only 4. She took a degree on Spanish Dance and studied at length with the great masters of flamenco dance. She furthered her studies with classic and cotemporary ballet abroad. In 1994 she founded her own company with which she has opened 5 shows, among them Tiempos Flamencos, a route along the different flamenco palos. The show is available in several formats and suitable for theatres as well as for places of small capacity. Another of her shows is Carmen, flamenco live music and a masterly corps de ballet transmit the strength and passion of this word-known myth. |

At the tender age of 8 she started her artistic studies in the dance school of her mother, Concha Baras. One decade later she got the prize “Gente Joven” and began her proffesional career in Manuel Morao dance company. She shared stage with top flamenco stars, and in 1998 she made her debut with her own company. Since then her national and international tours performing different shows have been widely rewarded. Her production, Mariana Pineda, had a five-month run in Calderón Theatre in Madrid hanging the “sold out” sign for weeks. |

A new generation show that combines flamenco tradition and the modernity of Tap Dance. Spain Live is a way to perform art by an universal, modern, explosive and genuine language. 30 artists on stage shock with a choreography and costumes that are designed by mixing strict modernity and knowledge of tradition. The music has been exclusively composed for Spain Live by some of the best Spanish composers and is performed live on stage by four musicians.

SPANISH DANCE OF ESCUELA BOLERA
Carmen Cantero Ballet Special Production
These are the typical folk dances of Madrid.They are ancient dances, the first known ones dating back to the XVI century. They are however named after Goya in the XVIII century, as it was this painter who best expressed the folk’s soul through his paintings and tapestries. The dresses worn by dancers are the traditional ones from Madrid, a copy of the ones used by the popular citizens of the time, the “manolas and chisperos” which can be seen in nearly every folk painting by the immortal painter. |

TOMATITO
He was born surrounded by Flamenco guitars, listening to the sound of his father and grandfather´s guitar. Being very young captured critics and audiences due to his extraordinary faculties. Undoubtly, the most outstanding in his career is that he accompanied Camarón de la Isla for 18 years. He has performed on the best stages of Spain and abroad, from la Maestranza of Seville to the Royal Albert Hall of London. He has won two Grammy Awards (Best Latin Jazz record and Best Flamenco record). All his career has established him among the top Flamenco representatives. |

ALQUIMIA
It is specialized in the three cultures that co-existed in Spain during the Middle-Ages: Christian, Sephard and Andalusi culture. Cantigas (medieval poems set to music), Minstrels, Sephard pieces, Andalusi pieces and medieval anthologies are freshly performed with the utmost historic rigor. Programming an ensemble like Alquimia is to bet for the understanding between cultures. |

MÚSICA ANTIGUA - Eduardo Paniagua
It was created in 1994 with the goal of performing and recording the Cantigas of Santa María (medieval poems set to music) of Alfonso X the Wise, and the music contemporary with this poet-King, been its director Eduardo Paniagua. In order to do this, this ensemble is made up of specialist vocalists and musicians who use reproductions of the instruments appearing in the Cantigas and of XII to XIV c. iconography. The stage appears full of instruments that accompany the singing, and they are the symbol of medieval music: psaltery, lute, flutes, drums, etc… |

TRIO SEFARAD - Aires de Sefarad
This group, dedicated to Sephard music, was founded in 1994. From its creation it has successfully taken part in International Festivals, and it has also performed in Halls both national and internationally. Its performances are based on existing musicologic studies, enriched by its own research and by its contact with members of sephard communities from different countries. |

TU SHI CHIAO & CECILIA LAVILLA BERGANZA
It was the year 1997 when these two singers decided to create a vocal duo accompanied by a Romantic guitar, to transmit the important and wide repertoire of the beginning of the XIX c., a new aestheric, popular and energetic concept, with a very direct, simple and beautiful language. They perform in a very sensitive and passionate way. They have collaborated several times performing, among others, the XXI c. Baroque Mass by Jacques Loussier with the Symphony European Orchestra in France. Tu Shi-Chiao has dubbed the main character of the film “Baltasar il Castrati”. |

ÁLVARO MARÍAS
“Alvaro Marías’ flute is like a human voice”. Nothing describes better the personality and art of this performer, born into a family of musicians and intellectuals, whose musical and humanistic formation go hand in hand. As a soloist or as leader of the Zarabanda Baroque consort, which he formed in 1985, he has performed in England, Belgium, France, Italy, Finland, Norway, Mexico or Colombia among other, receiving excellent reviews in important concerta halls and festivals in Spain and abroad.

LA CAPILLA REAL DE MADRID
Vocal and instrumental ensemble founded in 1992 by its today conductor Óscar Gershensohn. It tackles the repertoire of XVI, XVII and XVIII european music, and specially Spain's Golden Age and Baroque. It has recorded 2 albums: Maestros de la Capilla musical del Monasterio de Guadalupe-Extremadura and Obras de Patiño. It is host-ensemble and programmer of Madrid season of Music in the Church - Cantatas by J.S. Bach. It is outstanding its rendition of universally acknowledged pieces of Händel, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, among others. |

SONORA ENSEMBLE
Under José Gómez's baton
It is a chamber orchestra which was created with the aim of filling the existing gap in Spain concerning this kind of musical formations, and of becoming a reference. Its creator and conductor is José Gómez. The orchestra is made up of top-level musicians that work in the greatest orchestras of Madrid and in the conservatories of the capital. The repertoire of the Sonora Ensemble is dedicated to the traditional repertoire for chamber orchestras together with not so common pieces. |

BRAVO ZARZUELA - A Celebration of Spanish Music and Dance
This musical, originally staged for European TV, is a colourful display of Spanish culture. It is made up of the most important pieces from the most important Spanish Operas and each piece represents some of the so different spanish regions. When it is performed out of Spain, there is a possibility of featuring artists (dancers, orchestra, chorus…) from the country where it is carried out, and always directed by the spanish maestros. So the production of this musical can be only spanish or shared with another country.

OPERA AND ZARZUELA WITH RANGE OF WOMAN
A wonderful programme of women in the Opera and Spanish Opera. ARCOS DE BUENOS AIRES TANGO SHOW
Retrospective of tango from its beginnings to the most contemporaneous musicians. The show is composed by a string chamber orquestra and is accompanied by a tango ballet that shows many different argentine dances with several dresses. The company is part of the famous show “Tango Argentino” from Broadway that has been on tour with great success around France and America and arrives in Spain with all the colour and aroma from Rio de la Plata. |

LA CHARANGA DE ORO

She was born in Buenos Aires and due to this caprice of fate she starts to express her feelings through the Tango: “I am an actress, and I consider the Tango as the genre that offers the biggest performing possibilities. The essential is what I am able to transmit, and I use music as a vehicle. For all this, and for many reasons that go beyond, I sing Tango”. She has sung in many spanish cities and out of Spain. Her unmistakable figure and her performing strength don´t go unnnoticed on those stages where she has performed. She offers the possibility of including a couple of dancers accompanying her performance. |

TANGO QUERIDO QUARTET
Representative quartet of the popular music from Buenos Aires in Europe. Four musicians, Anne Landa (accordion), Pablo Mezzelani (singer and guitar), Pedro Aguinaga (violin) and Víctor Sánchez (double bass), present a show that expresses all the poetic and musical magic of that “mischief” born in the slums of Buenos Aires, and which was called Tango. They offer the possibility of including a couple of dancers in their perfomance. |

ABDEL KARIM ENSEMBLE
This ensemble is made up of musicians from many different countries (Syria, Egypt and Morocco). Its goal is the research and performance of Arab-Andalusian Music, musical and poetic heritage whose origin is the Medieval Al-Andalus, which influenced by that time countries such as Egypt, where it is carefully kept the Muwashaha tradition, a poetic form which hasn´t changed along the years. |

AL-BARAKA
This group is made up of musicians from Morocco and Spain, specialized in the performance of musics of Eastern Mediterraneo and music from the Magreb, as beautiful as unknown in the West. In their performances one or several female dancers accompany their music with Arab dances, Andalusi and Oriental Dance such as Bellydancing or stomach dance, Dance of the sable… wonderful performances full of color, exotism and sensual beauty, with elegance and exquisite. |

AL-CARAVAN
Dedicated to the traditional dance and music of the area from the Magreb to Egypt. It is made up of multinstrumental musicians (derbuka, arab flute, tabal, drums etc) and gnawas dance, sometimes accompanied by one/two female dancers of Oriental and Arab-Andalusi dances, and Folklore from Egypt. The costumes are wonderful, and its performances are dynamic making the audience take part in their performances. They surprise with strong and unusual rhythms, performing effects, varied costumes and a very cheerful music. All this make the group very suitable for street-performances and thematic festivals. |

ANDALUSI ORQUESTRA FROM TETUÁN
Classical Andalusi Orchestra with all the typical instruments: Tar, Rebab, violins, violas, kanun, lutes, a choir and a soloist singer. The orchestra, made up of the best musicians from Tetuán, carry out a perfect performance of the classical suite called Nuba. The number of members can vary according to the needed program: among six and nine members. |

Led by N´Diaye brothers, this ballet is an alive exponent of griot music of Western Africa. Its art power base is the wolof drums, which they play with great mastery. Part of its repertoire is dedicated to the Mbalax , played with the sabar drum, a music of fast rhythm and dancers´ almost acrobatic jumps. There are also songs to calm down and reflect, dominated by the crystalline sound of the Kora (a kind of harp). They also carry out both dance and percussion workshops, and performances in the street. |

NINKI-NANKA
Sidy Samb, Ibrahima Diabat and Siryfo Kouyate, from Senegal and Mali, lead this group of African traditional dance and music, whose number of members can vary from a trio to 8 members, depending on the program. In its music we find traditional rhythms and melodies such as the Mbalah, the Wel Salou etc. Sidy Samb learnt from his mother Daro Mbaye, one of the most important singers of his country, the black sounds. From his grandfather,considered one of the greatest African percussionists, has learnt the rhythms and dance in its sheerest state. |

THE GREEK BYZANTINE CHOIR
The Greek Byzantine Choir was established in 1977 by Lykourgos Angelopoulos and its aim is the study and presentation of Byzantine music in the form that has reached us today through the written and oral tradition. In its years of activity the choir has performed over 1000 concerts, has recorded at the largest radio-television studios of Europe and has published books and cd´s.
